Sustainability at Builtech – from first steps to future impacts

More than a Buzzword: What Sustainability means at Builtech

ESG stands for Environmental and Social responsibility, as well as responsible corporate Governance. For us, it is not a “nice-to-have” but an ecological and economic necessity. It means taking action rather than just talking – for our clients, for the environment, and for everyone working with us. Energy efficiency, re-source conservation, and social responsibility have long become essential topics in our industry. This is exactly why we established our Sustainability & ESG department: to actively shape this responsibility in-stead of merely reacting to it. Our goal: to set standards that create real impact.

Our ESG Progress at a glance

  • Kick-off in December 2023: Establishment of the Sustainability & ESG department
  • The following months focused on building a solid foundation: Conducting a double materiality assessment, preparing the 2023 CO₂ footprint (Scope 1 + 2), and developing the Builtech Code of Conduct.
  • As the department grew, so did the number of projects: Conducting a climate risk and vulnerability assessment, performing the first sustainability rating with EcoVadis, and rolling out Ecosia as a sustainable browser at our locations.
  • 2025 brought new initiatives: Projects on diversity and resource management were launched, and a major milestone was achieved: the development of the first Sustainability Strategy of the Builtech Group, including binding targets for all entities.
  • We also reached 53 points in our third EcoVadis rating, earning recognition for our strong performance. Additionally, we laid the foundation for a long-term reduction of our Scope 2 emissions by signing a framework agreement for certified green electricity for all German locations.
